Subbu did his postdoctoral research in the Musculoskeletal Quantitative Imaging Research (MQIR) group at University of California San Francisco (UCSF) prior to joining SUTD. He received his PhD from the I.I.T. Bombay and was affiliated with the the Biomedical Engineering and Technology (incubation) Centre (BETiC). Nithin Manohar RAYUDU, M.Eng.
PhD student (Started Sep. 2018)

Nithin received his Master’s degree from BITS Pilani, Hyderabad campus, India (2015) in Design Engineering (Mechanical). Prior to joining SUTD, he worked as R&D Engineer at Medtronic R&D Center, Hyderabad and as Senior Research Fellow at BITS Pilani, Goa Campus.

Duraisamy SASIREKHA, M.Eng.
PhD student (Started Sep. 2018)

Sasirekha graduated from the Anna University with a Bachelor’s degree (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) and a Master’s degree (Electrical Engineering) in 2009 and 2011, respectively. Before joining SUTD, she worked as a research associate and Lecturer (UG) at SRM University, India.

Trevor BINEDELL MSc. (Co-Advisor)

Principal Prosthetist/Orthotist, Foot Care & Limb Design Centre, Tan Tock Seng Hospital [TTSH]

Trevor graduated with a Bachelor’s in Prosthetics & Orthotics from LaTrobe University, Australia in 2000 and Masters in Prosthetic Rehabilitation Studies from Strathclyde University, Scotland in 2015.

He is currently pursing his PhD at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) in Engineering Product Development, researching products to assist with early mobilisation post amputation. Trevor is the current President of the International Society of Prosthetics and Orthotics – Singapore chapter. Trevor has been a pioneering figure and influence in Singapore in the area of prosthetics for more than a decade. Trevor divides his time between clinical work, study, education and research & development.

Shehan Chalaka Fernando, B.Sc. (Honours) .
Research Engineer (Since Jan 2020)

Chalaka received his Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Moratuwa (2014 -2018). He has worked as Software Engineer at Axiata Digital Labs specializing in IoT solutions. He is currently engaged in developing an IoT system for physiological signal monitoring of the Eldelry.

Vishva Sudantha MEEGALLA, B.Eng.

Vishva received his Bachelor’s degree from University of Colombo School of Computing in Computer Science. He has worked as R&D Engineer at Inova IT Systems, Sri Lanka, specializing in IoT solutions. He is currently engaged in developing a platform for social volunteering network.

Anitha D. Praveen, MS, PhD

Anitha received her Mastes and Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Utilizing her previous experience in performing patient-specific structural and geometric analyses in Osteoporotic patients, her current work involves development of novel analytical tools for bone fracture prediction, as well as an inclusive focus on the automation of engineering techniques for its implementation in the clinical scenario.

Duraisamy SHRIRAM, MS, PhD
PhD Graduate (Started Sep. 2015; QE in May 2017; Defended Thesis in Apr. 2020)

Shriram received his Master’s degrees from Duke University, Durham, NC (2013) and the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden (2012), both in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as an R&D Engineer at R&D Dynamics Corporation, Bloomfield, CT, USA before joining SUTD.

He is a mechanical engineer by training with significant interest in biomechanics and an avid enthusiast of computational methods that change our understanding and management of clinical problems. His Ph.D. project is focused on the development and deployment of a computational framework for continuum modeling of the subject-specific knee joint to assess its biomechanical behavior under intact, injured, implanted, and braced conditions. With this project, he demonstrated the ability of finite element simulations to provide information that supports decisions related to the technical performance, safety, and effectiveness of medical devices.

Muthu Rama Krishnan Mookiah, PhD
Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Muthu received his PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur), India in 2012. He was awarded MHRD fellowship to pursue his PhD. His PhD work focused on histopathological image analysis for computer aided diagnosis of oral submucous fibrosis. He is an editorial board member for International Journal of Ophthalmology and Clinical Research and International Journal of Oral and Craniofacial Science. He worked as a R&D Project Engineer at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore before joining SUTD. His major interests are medical image analysis, pattern recognition, data mining, and visualization. Rizuwana Parween, PhD
Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Riz received her PhD from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India. Her Ph.D research work was extensively on “Modeling of the Haltere – A Natural Vibratory Gyroscope used by the Dipteran Insects”. She received her Bachelor and Master degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Rourkela, India. She has 2+ years of industry experience as a Product Development Engineer (KSB Tech Pvt Ltd, Pune) and Structural Analyst (CUMMINS, Pune). As a Research fellow, she has hands on experience in MEMS Device fabrication in the National Nanofabrication Centre, CeNSE, IISc, India. At SUTD, she is working on design and development of an Unloader Knee Brace for Asian Patients, in collaboration with physicians in Changi General Hospital.

Eugene graduated from SUTD in 2017, majored in Engineering Product Development (EPD). He co-founded a company “Mobearlize” based on their Capstone project. His research interests are in Engineering Design, Assistive Devices, and Robotics for healthcare.

Andrew Hall is an MISTI International Intern at SUTD. He is working on developing Image-based measurement tools for bio-mechanical analysis of lower-limb. Andrew is currently an undergraduate student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), studying Mechanical Engineering with an interest in Biology. On Campus, he is a member of the varsity volleyball team and the fraternity Phi Beta Epsilon. While in high school, Andrew received his Eagle Scout award from the Boy Scouts of America.

She is a Junior undergraduate student at Sharif University of Technology (SUT), Tehran, Iran, majoring in Electrical Engineering with an interest in Biomedical Engineering.
